Family caregivers may be eligible for financial compensation through various programs designed to support their caregiving efforts. Learn about available options, including Arizona's Long Term Care Services (ALTCS), and discover how you can receive financial assistance for providing care to your loved ones.
Arizona offers the Arizona Long Term Care Services (ALTCS), a program through AHCCCS (Arizona's Medicaid Program) designed to provide long-term care services for individuals with specific needs.
How ALTCS Works:
Enrollment in ALTCS: Your family member must first be enrolled in the Arizona Long Term Care Services (ALTCS) program. To apply, visit the ALTCS website and review the documents on how to apply, or call 888-621-6880 for assistance.
Request to Become a Paid Family Caregiver: Once your family member is accepted into ALTCS, you can request to be their paid family caregiver.
Connect with a Homecare Agency: After being designated as the family caregiver through ALTCS, you will need to connect with a homecare agency that is contracted with ALTCS. The agency will train and pay you as if you were an employee.
Training Requirements: The homecare agency will provide training, which typically includes CPR/First Aid certification and Fundamentals of Caregiving training, ensuring you are equipped with the necessary skills.
