National Caregiver Day – Third Friday in February

National Caregiver Day – Third Friday in February

National Caregiver Day is observed annually on the third Friday in February.

Across the nation dedicated health care professionals serve those who require long-term or hospice care.  National Caregivers Day honors those men and women dedicated to providing these vital services.

Paid caregivers deliver a variety of services from personal care to medical services with compassion and professionalism.  Their days may be long and demanding, but they provide support to those who need it most.

National Caregivers Day recognizes caregivers providing quality, compassionate care every day.

HOW TO OBSERVE

Take time to thank a caregiver for their dedication and care of our loved ones.  Use #NationalCaregiversDay to post on social media.

HISTORY

National Caregivers Day was founded by Providers Association for Home Health & Hospice Agencies (PAHHHA) in 2015.  Its first observance was February 19, 2016.  For more information please visit PAHHHA.

“Caregiving has pushed me to do things outside of my comfort zone, and I’ve embraced that nurturing part of myself that I didn’t know I had.”

Mary lives with late stage Alzheimer’s so Patty spends about 9 hours daily to assist her with things like bathing, cooking, dressing, and going to the doctor’s office for appointments. Patty takes Mary to an Adult Day Center three days a week through the Arizona Caregiver Coalition so that she can enjoy respite. Mary loved it at the center and made friends. It became something that she truly looked forward to every week.
