In a nice way, of course. Sign up for AZ AARP 2018 Day at the Legislature. The nonpartisan, outdoor luncheon is January 30, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., on the Capitol lawn, 1700 W. Washington St., Phoenix, AZ. If you’ve participated before, AARP needs you back. If this is your first foray into citizen lobbying, AARP staff and volunteers will be there to guide you along. These are some of AZ AARP’s top priorities for the 2018 legislative session: long-term home health care, caregiver tax credits and respite programs, stopping surprise medical bills, property tax relief, protecting elders from money scams, and keeping utility rates low and government pensions strong. Arizona’s 2018 Day at the Legislature is led by AARP’s State Director Dana Marie Kennedy and Advocacy Director Stephen Jennings, and a team of local policy experts. “The Day at the Legislature gives constituents a chance to meet with elected representatives over a meal, in a relaxed atmosphere,” said AARP Arizona President Dan Martinez, heads the group’s executive council, adding that the volunteer council works closely with AARP staff every year to identify the membership’s legislative priorities.
